Completed the University Health Network’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Mental Health Care: Practical Opportunities for Clinical and Administrative Implementation professional development program in June 2026.
The program explored the practical application of artificial intelligence within healthcare organizations, with an emphasis on responsible implementation, clinical and administrative workflows, governance, privacy, algorithmic bias, and change management. Through real-world healthcare case studies, the program examined current AI technologies while emphasizing patient safety, ethical decision-making, evidence-based implementation, and organizational readiness.
Why I Took This Course
Throughout my career I’ve focused on reducing administrative burden through better technology and workflow design. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into healthcare, I wanted a stronger foundation for evaluating where these tools genuinely improve patient care and operational efficiency—and where human expertise and oversight remain essential.
This course built upon my experience in EMR optimization, referral workflow automation, and digital transformation by providing a structured framework for evaluating and implementing AI responsibly within healthcare organizations.

Reflections
One of the biggest lessons I took away from this program was that successful AI implementation isn’t primarily a technology problem. Organizations often already have access to capable AI tools; the greater challenge is integrating them responsibly into existing workflows while maintaining privacy, governance, transparency, and patient trust. That perspective reinforced many of the challenges I’d already encountered while leading healthcare technology projects.
